Which Noma Bulb Do I Need?

Most traditional Noma Christmas light sets use the G1 push-in bulb. If yours has gone out, or a few bulbs have blown, you can usually get it working again with a card of genuine Noma G1 spares. Use the table below to check your set, or call us on 01606 888006 and we’ll match it for you.

To check, look at the label on the cable near the plug, or on the original box. Noma prints the lamp code there. If it says G1, these are the bulbs you need. The set number (for example 4311 or 418) is usually on the same label.

My Whole Set Has Gone Out

Traditional Noma sets are wired so that every bulb shares the same circuit. If one bulb fails, works loose or is missing, the whole set can go out. Each set also has a fuse bulb, which is designed to blow first to protect the set.

  1. Unplug the set before touching any bulbs.
  2. Push every bulb firmly into its holder. A loose bulb is the most common cause.
  3. Find the fuse bulb (it looks different from the coloured bulbs) and replace it with a G1 fuse bulb.
  4. Still not working? Replace the bulbs one at a time with a spare until the set lights. That shows you which bulb had failed.
Always replace a bulb with the same type. Don’t leave a holder empty, and never fit a bulb with a different voltage.

Thinking of Upgrading to LED?

Noma now makes LED versions of its three best-known shaded sets, with the same traditional look and Noma’s Easytimer built in. They can be used indoors or outdoors. If your old set has seen better days, the Pickwick 2523077, Canterbury Bells 2523079 and Victorian Lantern 2523081 are the direct replacements for the 4311, 4405 and 4611. 80-light versions are also available.

Questions

The new bulb holder won’t fit my set. What can I do?

Over the years Noma has made small changes to the plastic holders. If a new one won’t push into your set, gently pull the glass bulb out of the new holder and fit it into your old holder instead.

Do G1 bulbs fit the new LED sets?

No. G1 bulbs are for traditional filament sets only. Check the label near the plug before ordering.

Can I use non-Noma bulbs?

We recommend genuine Noma G1 bulbs. They match the voltage and fit of your set, and they’re what we stock.

My set uses a different bulb code

We also stock other Christmas spares, including L3, W1, R3 and E12 bulbs. If you can’t find yours, call 01606 888006 or email jack@greenwoodlighting.co.uk with the code from the label and we’ll help.
