About Greenwood Lighting: Electrical Wholesaler Since 1981

Greenwood Lighting has been in the lighting and electrical industry for over 40 years. We’re an independent, family-run electrical wholesaler on Mere Lane in Sandiway, near Northwich, supplying electricians, contractors and homeowners across Cheshire, and Christmas lights and spares to customers across the UK.

Our Story

1981

Greenwood Lighting is founded in St Helens, Merseyside, as our flagship store finishes construction.

1983

We outgrow our first store and relocate to Hartford, Cheshire.

1988

Sharon, Harry’s daughter, joins the team to help run the trade counter. We create our own brands, Luxmar and Marlux, importing halogen and incandescent bulbs from Germany, France and China.

1993

Denise joins her sister Sharon on the trade counter. The same year, Greenwood Lighting and nine other North West wholesalers found the IBA buying group, which now has over 85 members and gives us the purchasing power to offer competitive prices on the biggest brands.

1999

We move from Hartford business park to our current store in Sandiway, where Sharon and Denise have served the trade and public ever since.

2010

Our first website, Litelec.com, launches. After its success with vintage Christmas lights and spares, Harry steps back from the trade counter to serve online customers across the UK.

2017

Rob joins the team and, seeing the demand for hardware, expands our product range.

Today

Sharon, Rob, Denise and Jack are still serving the trade and public every day from our trade counter at 59 Mere Lane, Sandiway.
